Governance & Authority in the Age of Mediatization

Has political communication ever been as complex as in our age? The revolution in the media technology has created a 'hyper reflexivity' in which politicians easily go under in the complexity of political communication. Politics has become a spectacle with ever new styles, new stages, new discourses. In his talk, Maarten Hajer will address the challenges of finding new political repertoires that fit the needs of the present. 

Maarten A. Hajer is professor of Public Policy at the University of Amsterdam and currently also holds a position as key advisor to the Dutch Cabinet (cf. He is the author of more than ten books including the celebrated study 'The Politics of Environmental Discourse' (Oxford UP 1995) and his recent 'Authoritative Governance - Policy-Making in the Age of Mediatization' (Oxford UP 2009)
